UK based ‘Kempy’ is a Predator die hard. His Instagram account holds a vast collection of content, dedicated to the fabled Adidas Predator Range. We had a quick chat to the man himself below…

So tell us a bit about yourself, who is Kempy?
I am kazer söze ;).

How did you get into documenting all things Predator?
It was the 1998 predator accelerator that started my obsession and the image of Becks in his hey day whipping free kicks into the top bin. As for the whole documenting, purely by accident. I posted a few images on insta early doors and people seemed to like them, so I just continued and it grew from there

How do you think the role of design/photography/art direction effects football in a sometimes over saturated market?
Massively, a good ad campaign, player support or photograph can be the difference between a product selling and not selling. The updated copa 16.1 for example; Pretty solid boot, don’t get me wrong it has its flaws but the fact that no Adidas player is wearing them and there was little or no ad campaign/story goes to show you that it is important.

The predator range has always had a strong identity, in the form of marketing and pre-release, would you consider this one of the aspects people always keep coming back to the predator?
Predator is associated with the memories of what players did in them and how they looked doing it. Zidane smashing that volley in to the top corner or Becks whipping in that free kick against Greece.

I guarantee if you put pictures in front of people asking which boot they were wearing 90% of football followers could tell you the answer.

Your favourite predator and why?
1998 accelerator, was the first predator I owned. My mum, bless her brought it out the catalogue and paid something like £2.50 a week for it, for forever and being a huge Becks fan might of had something to do with it.

Your favourite predator moment and why it meant so much to you?
Beckham freekick vs Greece.

I can remember me and my dad had a massive fall out and had not spoke for a few days. I was in my room watching it and he was in the living room. Next thing Becks smashes one in, he comes running into my room dives on the bed and we are both going absolutely bonkers.

Aside from the Predator what other range of boots have you always kept your eye on?
Adidas in general, I’m pretty clued up on most things Adi but also have a big soft spot for diadora.
